I am writing to express my disappointment with the customer service at Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto. The receptionist at the front desk was unprofessional and entirely un-welcoming. She did not smile or greet me upon arrival, and she answered my questions with a blunt, negative attitude. It is incredibly disheartening to encounter this kind of treatment at a facility dedicated to pet care.

Whitney was so helpful, courteous, and so kind. She really has a heart for this work as well as another volunteer that has been there forever. They really make the adoption process easy.

I’ve been to this place twice and can say the front desk people do not seem to friendly. I had to euthanize my senior cat and they seem to not really care. They wouldn’t even let me take his body home to get buried. They did not inform us that they do not under any circumstance allow it. I didn’t want him to be in pain anymore but I would have liked to properly bury him. I give it 2 stars instead of one because the adoption fee is $60 with vaccines and neuter which is a good price. But if you want the option to neuter cats on there website there isn’t(only dogs). Side note I overheard the front desk lady tell someone if they want to surrender there dogs they have to pay $40 per pet/ make an appointment per pet … now he’s probably going to dump them on the side of the road.

Older man behind the glass told me "you should have just left them alone" when I brought in 2 adults and 2 puppies I found running together. I live 4 hrs from Ceres and was just trying to save them from certain death by car. They were sweet and adoptable. It's time for him to retire if he has lost his way in the care of animals. Jaded against animals makes the place look bad. His instructions to "pull down by single door and they will come out to get them" left out the part about ringing the bell or knocking and I waited in my car for over an hour. When I went back in he said "they have been outside looking for you 3 times" No sir... they have not. I was watching that door like a hawk. I had to make arrangements for my grandkids to get picked up because I waited so long. He dismissed me as if I had interrupted his day by asking him to do what I am sure is covered under his "job duties". Sorry you had to ACTUALLY work. Please retire this man and make room for someone who ACTUALLY cares.

Swooped up this beautiful gal named Piper from this shelter. She's an angel can't believe she had no interest and was on the euthanasia list for space. She's been really tolerant on my 70# 7 month old puppy and has been great with all sized dogs and kids of all sizes. She was even accepted into Dog Time stay and play daycare in San Leandro where my puppy goes to play and they don't just accept any dog. She's a star ✨ ⭐ The volunteers here are really awesome. I would definitely recommend this shelter because they have so many dogs in need. Adopt/rescue one today!! 🥰💕🙏
